At this year's FIBE in Berlin, Alexander Sommer, CEO of DSwiss, spoke about one of the key challenges in dealing with sensitive data in the financial sector: reliability. In this interview, he shares his insights from working with banks and insurance companies, explains how DSwiss supports institutions in complying with regulatory requirements - and why industry events such as FIBE are essential for digital progress.
What is the most important lesson learned from working with financial institutions in the area of secure data management?
Answer AS: Reliability is the be-all and end-all. For financial institutions, trust is one of the core values that they offer their customers - and they can only maintain this through reliable partners.
Regulation has changed significantly since the 2008 financial crisis. With DORA, the next requirement is already just around the corner. At the same time, the pressure from the digital transformation and growing cyber threats continues to increase.
Financial institutions are therefore specifically looking for partners who can guide them safely through this area of tension. Those who act as a reliable partner here - who ensures that they can sleep soundly at night - create the basis for long-term and trusting cooperation.
How do your solutions help companies not only to increase security, but also to work more efficiently and sustainably?
Answer AS: Our approach is to abstract technical complexity to such an extent that it results in easy-to-use, comprehensible solutions. Our products are designed in such a way that they can be used quickly - whether as a ready-to-use solution or as an individually adaptable system for specific requirements.
In this way, we not only support our customers in complying with regulatory requirements, but also help them to design their processes efficiently and reduce their operating costs.
Another point is sustainability: by using our solutions, many paper-based processes can be digitized. This not only saves resources, but also helps to meet ESG requirements, which are becoming increasingly important for many institutions.
What was your personal highlight at FIBE - and why are such events important for the industry?
Answer AS: Events like the FIBE are valuable for several reasons. Firstly, they enable personal encounters - and nothing can replace this direct exchange.
Secondly, the mix of established players and young, dynamic companies creates a very exciting atmosphere. People discuss, network and think ahead together. This is exactly what is needed to promote entrepreneurial thinking - especially in challenging times.
Europe is facing major technological challenges. Entrepreneurship is one of the keys to mastering these challenges. Events such as FIBE create the necessary space for this.
